Road International (“Road”) was launched in 1982 with six members from New York City. A year later Road became regular DJs at ACT III nightclub, and as their popularity grew over the next five years, they were hired to play at weddings, boat rides and parties in New York and the Tri-state area.
Club ZX in Brooklyn was the first club where Road became resident DJs, but were additionally hired as DJs at other venues, such as The Underground, Pulse, Latin Quarters, The Shadow, Love People, and Village Hut to name a few from a rather long list. In 1987 Q Club opened its doors with Road International as its resident DJs. Q Club quickly became the hottest Caribbean nightspot in New York.
Road has been featured on floats at Brooklyn, New York’s annual Labor Day Parade sponsored by the following companies:
- Island Jamaica Records
- Sony Records
- Digicel
- VP Records (5 years)
- JA National Money Transfer

As the group progressed within the music entertainment industry, in 1989 they ventured into radio broadcasting and hosted several radio shows. Road can currently be heard on radio stations in New York, Boston, Atlanta, Florida, Jamaica, and also across the worldwide web.
They have also been guest DJs at numerous album release parties (Beenie Man, Sean Paul, Shaggy and more), corporate and alumni association events, as well as annual outdoor events including Irie Jamboree (8 years), Yam Fest, Grace Jerk Fest and Reggae Rhythm & Blues. Road has earned a well-deserved title as reggae and soul music historians and have released compact disc compilations for VP Records entitled, Dancehall Hits Volume I and II. Most recently Ziggy Marley and Tuff Gong Worldwide released a compact disc entitled Dancehall Originators Vol 1 featuring a “Taking You Back” mega mix by DJ Roy.
